Davinson Sánchez booed by Tottenham Hotspur fans during match with Bournemouth

Davinson Sánchez is the bitten dog with the supporters of Tottenham Hotspur. The ex-Ajax player was booed by his own fans during the Premier League game with Bournemouth, while his substitution was received with cheers.

Sánchez made a mistake in Dominic Solanke’s 1-2, much to the dissatisfaction of the fans. Interim manager Cristian Stellini decided to put the Colombian defender out of his misery after 58 minutes. He was replaced by Arnaut Danjuma. Extra painful: Sánchez himself came on after 35 minutes for the injured Clément Lenglet.

Afterwards, Spurs captain Hugo Lloris stood up for Sánchez. “The whistling started when he came in. I’ve never experienced this in my career,” says the experienced goalkeeper beIN Sports. “I feel very sorry for Davinson. He is a teammate and a friend. He has been fighting for this club for many years. It’s just sad. It’s a sad story for the club, the fans and the player. You don’t want this see in football.”

Stellini stated that he replaced Sánchez from a “tactical point of view”. “We have to support him because this is a difficult one for him.” The strongman traded Ajax in the summer of 2017 for the Londoners, who paid about 42 million euros for him. British media conclude that he has had his longest time at the club.

Thanks to a goal from Danjuma, Tottenham came back to 2-2 in the final phase, but it still went wrong deep into injury time: 2-3.
