Davinson Sánchez has once again been criticized for the low level he has shown in games with Tottenham. This time, the Colombian defender was questioned after the elimination of the London team in the round of 16 of the FA Cup against Sheffield United, who was left with the 1-0 victory at the Bramall Lane stadium with a score from Iliman Ndiaye.
The center-back, who was returning to the starting lineup after two games on the substitute bench in the Premier League, received various comments about his performance, not to mention, with a part of the blame for his rivals’ scoring. Former player Jason Victor Cundy, who played with the Spurs between 1992 and 1996, was one of those who attacked Davinson Sánchez.
“In the play of the goal, Davinson Sánchez is as if he were moving in quicksand, he is not interested. It’s awful. Sanchez seemed shaky from the start, as he constantly missed interceptions and headers, while he lacked any real composure on the ball.” he assured in talkSPORT where he is a panelist.
Davinson played all three of Tottenham’s games in the FA Cup as a starter, however, in the Premier League he has not been consistent as he has barely added 570 minutes in 13 games. The player has not been a starter since October last year, while in 2023 he has only added 16 minutes in two games. The footballer has remained on the bench in 12 commitments.
The next opportunity for the Colombian to add minutes will be this Saturday, March 4 at 10:00 am (Colombian time, when Tottenham visits Wolverhampton at the Molineux Stadium for a new round of the English league. The Spurs will look for a victory that ensures them in the Champions League qualifying positions.
