Davide Ghersini: Referee of the Ascoli-Bari Match for the Twenty-First Day of Serie B Championship

Davide Ghersini will referee the Ascoli-Bari match scheduled for Sunday 21st at 4.15pm at the “Del Duca” stadium for the twenty-first day of the Serie B championship. The 38-year-old referee of the Genoa section will be assisted by assistants Domenico Fontemurato from Rome 2 and Matteo Passeri from Gubbio and the fourth officer Enrico Gigliotti from Cosenza. At the VAR there will be Gianpiero Miele from the Nola section, VAR assistant Matteo Gariglio from Pinerolo.

At the start of the season, Ghersini has refereed 10 official matches (1 in Serie A, 2 in the Italian Cup and 7 in Serie B) with 37 yellow cards, no expulsions and 4 penalties awarded.

On 21 January 2023 he managed Spal-Ascoli 1-1 at the “Mazza” in Ferrara, sending off the Juventus midfielder Giovane at the end of the first half for a double yellow card. On 19 March 2021 he refereed Ascoli-Cremonese 0-0 at the “Del Duca”, a 6 performance on the report card. On 4 January 2021 he refereed Ascoli-Reggina 2-1 at the “Del Duca”, a 5.5 test on the report card with four yellow cards. The third to last match against Picchio dates back to 15 December 2018 in Ascoli-Cittadella 1-1, a terrible performance with 4.5 on the report card with many errors that caused vibrant protests from the Bianconeri. On 5 May 2018 the Ligurian referee directed, again at the “Del Duca”, the Ascoli-Avellino match which ended 1-1, while on 27 January 2018 he refereed Pro Vercelli-Ascoli 2-0 with many doubts due to a foul in the penalty area Vives su Monachello. The first precedent with Picchio dates back to 20 April 2016, when he was the protagonist of a terrible performance at the “Del Duca” stadium in Ascoli-Bari 0-1, denying the Bianconeri a penalty due to a dramatic pulling of the shirt in the area by Di Cesare on Milanovic and expelling Petagna at the end for protests.

There are a total of seven previous matches for Ghersini with Ascoli with 1 success, 4 draws and 2 defeats for the Bianconeri. He managed Bari fifteen times in his career with 6 wins, 3 draws and 6 knockouts for the Apulians.
