Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant who was seriously injured in a car accident is sure to miss the 2023 IPL season. The star needs at least 6 months to recover from the ligament injury. In this situation, new reports suggest that David Warner will captain Delhi Capitals instead of Pant.
According to a TOI report, the Delhi Capitals management is considering handing over the team captaincy to David Warner in Ball’s absence. The matter will soon be discussed with Warner. Also, the team is looking for an Indian batsman-wicketkeeper instead of the ball. There are also reports that Sarfaraz Khan who plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket will be appointed goalkeeper.
The team will appoint Rishabh Pant as their captain for the 2021 season. David Warner was appointed as the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2015 and led the team to their first and only IPL title in 2016. But Warner was unexpectedly sacked as SRH captain at halfway through the 2021 IPL and the franchise decided not to hold him. It was acquired by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
