The 37-year-old joined Real Sociedad in 2020, after a number of years at Manchester City. This summer he had to put his football boots on the shelf due to a knee injury, but has not sat on the lazy side afterwards. He is already starting his new job as a wine producer.
The Spaniard owns a vineyard on Gran Canaria, but has naturally had a distant relationship with the day-to-day operations. After ten years in England and the last three years in Spanish football, opportunities to work on the side have become scarce. Now, however, he seems to be spending more time on the company. British Mirror describes the production as “a great success”.
The winery has been named Bodegas Tameran and is run by Silva and wine specialist Jonatan Garcia. The former says that he was introduced to wine through his former teammate and had special types of wines transported from Spain to Manchester, when he played for City.
Got an unexpected message
Four years ago he bought the vineyard and later built a wine cellar on the same site. The project has today become a successful business, in which he now wants to take more part.
Garcia, with whom Silva runs the winery, got to know the footballer through social media. Silva, who was interested in wine, had sent him a message and congratulated him on his success. Garcia had been shocked and couldn’t believe the City star had drunk his wine.
After he realized that it was not a fake user, but the actual football player, the two eventually formed a close friendship. This is how the wine success on Gran Canaria came about.
Wanted to continue my career
Now the two will work more closely together, but first Silva will get the knee sorted that caused his football career to end.
“I’m going to San Sebastián and live there for a year, to carry out rehabilitation. My son will go to school there and the family will be there, so we will return to Gran Canaria after that,” says Silva to the Mirror.

The Liverpool fans tremble: – It’s like ending the season
Despite the fact that he played football until he was 37, he would have liked to have been on the football pitch longer.
“I wanted to play for another year because I felt so good last season. Then I got injured and realized I couldn’t play anymore, but I’m fine. Everyone around me is more sorry that I can’t play anymore than I am, but that’s how life is.”
