Celtic legend David Provan has reminded Rangers fans on The Scottish Sun what Ibrox star Allan McGregor did in 2012.
The Scotsman has reminded Rangers fans that in 2012, when the Gers were demoted to Scotland’s lowest league division due to financial problems, McGregor decided to leave Ibrox.
Major player for Rangers
The 39-year-old goalkeeper had made more than 200 appearances for Gers by then, and the Scotsman returned to Rangers in 2018 after passing through Besiktas, Hull City and Cardiff City (on loan).

The veteran goalkeeper is having a brilliant season and has been crucial in helping Steven Gerrard’s team win the Scottish Premiership title and reach the knockout stages of the Europa League.
McGregor was just rewarded with a new contract, and while the Celtic Provan legend has praised him, he has reminded Rangers fans that, like Steven Naismith, the goalkeeper also chose not to play for the Gers in the lower leagues.

Steven Naismith situation
In January 2018, The Scottish Sun reported that former Rangers player Naismith was ready to play for free for the Gers.
The 34-year-old Scottish international, now at Heart of Midlothian, was struggling to play in Norwich City at the time.
The Taking of David Provan
Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun: “When Steven Naismith offered to play for the Rangers for nothing while it was out in the cold in Norwich, Ibrox fans did not take it.
“They wouldn’t forgive him for breaking his contract when the Rangers went into liquidation.
“In the same way there was less resistance when Allan McGregor agreed to a return of Ibrox after doing the same.
“At 39, the veteran is still showing why a trade in League Two with Charles Green was not a place for him.”
