Although not many of her colleagues from the industry came to the last farewell to singer Naďa Urbanková (†83), someone did show up. We are talking about the singer Milan Drobný (78) and the president of the competition Man of the Year David Novotný (42). Both came with flowers to the Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary to honor the singer’s memory. The editors of eXtra.cz took advantage of this and interviewed the gentlemen.
David Novotný was a longtime friend of Nadi Urbanková. That’s why he also came to say his last goodbye to her at the funeral mass Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Strahov, where friends and fans gathered who did not have the opportunity to attend the funeral, which was held only for the closest circle of loved ones. David came with a beautiful bouquet, which he then placed in the church with the others.
Memories of Naďa Urbanková
“I worked with Naďa for more than 15 years. She went to the Man of the Year and to the announcement of the best nurse, because she was very close to it. I consider her a person with a big heart, we used to write funny text messages. She had the gift of sensing, when one was in a bad mood,” David remembered Naďa.
He also revealed a funny story that connects the two. “We had a Christmas concert in the church, and since there is Police nad Metují and Nové Město nad Metují, I had a concert in Police nad Metují and Naďa went to Nové Město nad Metují. I had a full church and I said: Nadenko, where are you? and she: ‘Well, I’m standing in front of a church where there are no people, is it canceled somehow?’ Fortunately, they were only 20 km apart, so she arrived quickly,” Novotný recounted.
Her colleague from Semafor, Milan Drobný, spoke
The singer Milan Drobný also fondly remembers Naďa. “At that time, I liked how she flew onto the scene. Her movements, clothes and specific glasses that she wore in different sizes and colors. That she actually stirred up the calm level of Czech pop music here a little,” Milan revealed what attracted him to the singer. How long had they known each other? “We performed together for the first time in 1963, it was in Slovakia with Semafor,” he recalled. After that, the elderly singer took on the young generation of singers. According to him, they lack manners and lack respect.
Naďa Urbanková breathed her last on Friday, February 3. at the venerable age of 83 years. She died of complications related to cancer and covid. Her daughter Jana Fabiánová informed about it on her own Facebook.
