There is no doubt that Monreal is abusing. There is no justification for the gesture. Mrs. Moreno’s surprise is evident: she does not expect a man to approach her from behind and touch her buttocks. The matter is not admissible or as a joke, much less when it comes to a candidate for governor. And the video couldn’t be clearer.
The question is what we do with moments like what happened with Monreal. One possibility is to take advantage of them to communicate, without hesitation or ambiguity, what is admissible in a society such as Mexico.
Is it worth touching a woman’s butt without consequences? Unfortunately, candidate Moreno seems to say yes. “I am not going to allow them to use me, I am not going to allow them to harm the movement again,” Moreno said. “Attorney David Monreal is a respectful person and I have never been lacking. Enough of slander! ”.
Does Mrs. Moreno really believe this? Do you really think it is more important to think about the consequences for “the movement” than to set a precedent for limits on abuse? Does it really seem right to allow Monreal’s inadmissible gesture? Do you really think that Monreal is a “respectful person”? You may believe it. If so, make a mistake.
