David Lynch launches new short film on YouTube

“Fire (Pozar)” is written and produced by the director himself, who draws on the animation work of his collaborator Norika Miyakawa and the music of Marek Zebrowski.

Only a few months after the release of What’s Jack doing? on SVoD service Netflix, director David Lynch (Blue Velvet, Eraserhead) puts a new short film online, this time accessible free of charge to all internet users via the site Youtube.

First excursion in the animation

Written and directed by David Lynch and moderated by Noriko Miyakawa – collaborator on Twin Peaks: The Return – from the filmmaker’s drawings, Fire (Pozar) gives pride of place to elements controlled by nature such as fire, a recurring theme in his filmography. These ten minutes of animation are accompanied by a composition by Polish-American musician Marek Zebrowski.

And the next feature film then?

We will give free rein to the imagination of Lynch fans who will see what they want there and will interpret his recent achievements revealed to the public as they see fit – should we see a link between Fire (Pozar) and his previous simian police short? Are they suggesting a direction for the filmmaker’s next big project? However, it seems unlikely that the adventure Twin peaks continue after the conclusion of the third season broadcast in 2018 – much to the wish of fans wishing to see Dale Cooper on the small screen.
