David Linszen is the big winner of the Leids Cabaret Festival. The comedian won all three prizes on Saturday evening for his performance in the Leidse Schouwburg.
Linszen received the jury prize, the audience prize and the student jury prize. The professional jury describes his show as absurdism at a high level. “Daring, skilled and witty. David is surprising, musical, original and hyper-spirited from the first to the last second. His voice, body, facial expressions and his thoughts; everything is under control.”
The comedian competed against Said El Hassnaoui and Tim Kroezen in the final. The three finalists will tour the Netherlands from March 5.
The Leids Cabaret Festival was first organized in 1978. Former winners include Najib Amhali, Paulien Cornelisse, Dolf Jansen and Sanne Wallis de Vries.
The festival has been one of the most important springboards for cabaret talent for years. It didn’t happen last year. According to the organization, there was a lack of talent at the time.
