David Limberský and Three Others Charged with Extortion: Latest Development in Karlovy Vary Case

According to Prava’s findings, the public prosecutor filed charges of extortion against David Limberský and three other men. They are suspected of extorting four million crowns from a man from Karlovy Vary at gunpoint, which the football player gave him to buy computer equipment for mining cryptocurrencies.

The case should be heard by the Karlovy Vary District Court, the date of the main trial has not yet been set, Novinky.cz wrote today. Blackmail defendants face up to eight years in prison if convicted.

Karlovy Vary police charged four men with extortion last fall. According to them, they threatened another man with a firearm in a cafe in Karlovy Vary last year, after which they wanted to return the money. The police ended the investigation of the case at the beginning of this year. The former player of Pilsen and the national team Limberský confirmed in March to the Lidovky.cz server that he was reading the police file and estimated that the court hearing would be in September. “I will prove my innocence there” he told the website at the time.
