David Krejci, a long-time center forward of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL) does not continue professional career, joining team captain Patrice Bergeron, who announced his retirement in July.
The Bruins are without two experienced center forwards after a season in which they set NHL records for wins and points scored in the regular season. Now the leaders in these positions will be 26-year-old Pavel Zaha and 31-year-old Charlie Coyle.
After one season in the “Olomouc” club, where Krejci started his hockey career, he returned to Boston for a year. In the past NHL season, the 37-year-old Czech collected 56 points (16+40) in 70 matches in the regular season, but he had four points (1+3) in four games in the Stanley Cup. Having spent a little more than 15 seasons in the NHL, Kretchy earned 786 points (231+555) in 1032 regular season games and 128 points (43+85) in 160 Stanley Cup games.
With Krejci in the team, the Bostonians played in the Stanley Cup 13 times, reached the finals three times and in 2011 lifted the championship trophy above their heads. Czech was selected in the 2004 draft with number 63 and played in the NHL only in the “Bruins” team.
