At 67, the intermediary who was to transport Emiliano Sala to Wales, was tried in Cardiff for “imprudence or negligence likely to have endangered“the device in which Emiliano Sala (28) was traveling to join the Welsh club, where he had just been transferred from FC Nantes for 17 million euros.
Seven hours of deliberation, this is the time it took for the popular jury to recognize David Henderson as guilty before the final judgment which will be rendered on November 12, in ten days. As a reminder, the body of the Argentine attacker was found in the carcass of the aircraft, more than two weeks after the accident, at a depth of 67 meters, in the English Channel.
A heavy sentence expected
During the trial, the defendant and the prosecution claimed that he was initially supposed to pilot the machine but, on vacation in Paris with his wife, the transport of Emiliano Sala had been entrusted to David Ibbotson. The latter, without a commercial pilot’s license, was therefore not qualified for this flight and did not have the skills to make this trip at night.
Under the circumstances, David Henderson faces five years in prison, plus two years in detention for prosecution of transporting a passenger without valid authorization. A charge for which he has gold and has already pleaded guilty …
