David Hallyday will be back on stage on November 2 with his “Requiem pour un fou” tour, the name of his latest album with a new concept. Indeed, the singer covers his own titles but also revisits cult songs by his father Johnny Hallyday. “ It happened over a few years. I started listening to my first albums again, which I hadn’t listened to for a long time. Some titles (…) had aged a little poorly in terms of production. I said to myself: “Hey, I’m going to have fun doing them again and see what it turns out.” It was a lot of fun doing it. (…) Why not go more into my father’s repertoire and why not tackle the song “Sang pour sang”? » explains the 58-year-old artist, for whom it was moving to reappropriate pieces like “Sang pour sang”, “Live for the best” or “L’Envy”.

“She was very moved and so was I”
From now on, David Hallyday intends to touch the public’s heart. Indeed, it is his cover of the emblematic title “Laura”, written by Jean-Jacques Goldman for Johnny echoing the birth of his daughter Laura Smet, whom he has just chosen as his new single. “ She listened to it when it was not yet finished… (…) She absolutely wanted to listen to it. She was extremely moved and so obviously I was too. I can only think of her while making this song. It was important for me to succeed, and for her to be the first happy because it’s her song » confides David Hallyday in an interview on Purecharts, revealing the emotion behind this particular title: “ If I start to list everything that was moving while making the album, we’re not done. It lasted two and a half years. It was magnificent, painful at times, magnificent, constructive. An amalgamation of feelings that cannot be explained ».
« Laura, there are so many men that I am not / There are so many phrases that people say that I will not say to you / Yes, Laura, I would have so much to learn from you / All these tender words that we knows, I don’t know » chants the singer on this new version with pop-rock energy which contrasts with the original released in 1986. Fans, David Hallyday could well invite Laura Smet on stage on his tour! “ “Laura” is a song she could sing with me, I think about it. On a live show for example, I would like it, if it feels like it. That would be great! It’s a song that is so close to her, and one that she holds dear. It would make sense for her to come, I would really like » he explains. Strongly!
