Zapping But! Football Club Diego Maradona: the best punchlines of El Pibe de Oro
On the start of the Stade de Reims, David Guion will play his last match on the bench of Delaune on Sunday on the occasion of the reception of the Girondins de Bordeaux. Before being replaced by Oscar Garcia, the technician gave an interview to France Football where he takes stock of his nine years at the club and looks back on the 2020-21 financial year that many consider difficult.
Reims has never invested as much as Lens or Lorient
Out of the question for David Guion to suggest that there was an erosion of the results at the end: “You have to understand that we outperformed during the first two years in L1. It was not always understood well, despite having shouted it loud and clear. Spending more than half of the current season between 10th and 12th place is normal for Stade de Reims. A lot of people have struggled to understand this. We must not forget all these young people that we started this year, we must not forget this lack of experience. This season, the Stade de Reims is back to normal. I knew how to sublimate the state of mind of the Stade de Reims ”.
And David Guion uses the ambition displayed this season by the promoted to put things in perspective: “It’s always the same: it is the means that are put in place in relation to the objective. When we see what Lens and Lorient, promoted, have invested for their first season in Ligue 1 … Stade de Reims has never invested so much money. You also have to have your feet on the ground and have a very good understanding of who you are (…) It’s true that Europe has made some people turn their heads. As I said, I have always had my feet on the ground ”.
