David Guetta predicts heyday for dance after crisis: “Performances already insane” | Music

The producer said some of his biggest hits were released at a time of global turmoil as audiences look for a way out. “Every time there’s a major crisis, it’s good for dance music,” Guetta told The Evening Standard. “I think there is a connection between going through a crisis and feeling the need to come together and forget everything.”

Guetta stated that dance music was no longer “so hot” just before the pandemic. But the successful DJ, who has sold more than 50 million records worldwide, predicts that the dance industry will come back stronger than ever. He notes that his performances are already “insane” because people don’t take the opportunity to party for granted.

Guetta has previously experienced that a crisis caused a peak in the dance industry, he says. The biggest hit of his career was ‘I Gotta Feeling’, which he made with the Black Eyed Peas, and “that song came out in the midst of the financial crisis”.
