David Guetta celebrates a virtual rooftop party in New York

New York. The French star DJ David Guetta played on the roof of the Rockefeller Center in New York on Saturday – and dedicated a song to the African American George Floyd, who died as a result of a brutal police operation.

“America is going through difficult times right now,” said Guetta at the appearance, which he broadcast live on his social media channels. Then he mixed techno sounds with quotes from the famous “I-have-a-dream” speech by US civil rights activist Martin Luther King and asked the audience to dance.

Donations for Corona relief measures

More than 10,000 people watched Guetta on Twitter, while others followed the show on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. The musician interacted with some fans via the video service Zoom.

The campaign should bring in money for Corona relief measures. In April Guetta had already celebrated a virtual rooftop party in Miami, at which he claimed to have earned around 750,000 dollars (around 675,000 euros). In New York, the 52-year-old wanted to break the million mark.
