David Ellefson, “Steve Jobs saved the music business”

In a recent podcast interview theFIVE10, the bassist of MEGADETH, David Ellefson, stated the following about the music business changes over the years:

“I remember when the battle was going on between the METALLICA, Lars in particular, and Napster. I METALLICA they were absolutely right but I remember our manager telling me: ‘Stay out of that controversy, you have to proceed with caution’. I told him: ‘They are stealing our music. Napster is wrong and Lars he’s right. ‘ Unfortunately it was a battle they could not win and so did the METALLICA they had to take a step back to let it take its course.
Thank God Steve Jobs, as I see it, he saved the music business, although it was for selfish purposes, because he wanted to sell iPod. When he had walked away from Apple and he went to Hollywood, he met Daivd Geffen, Jeffrey Katzenberg and all those characters and he understood how Hollywood works. He understood how the film business works, the music business and he, someone who had always worked with computers, put it all together.
I still buy everything on iTunes and I have a subscription to Apple Music and not a Spotify. I don’t give money to Spotify, because they don’t pay me back. Apple pay much better, so thanks Apple“.
