David Crosby settles accounts with Spotify

David Crosby gives a good fight against Spotify.
The rock musician recently joined his former Crosby, Stills, Nash Young bandmate Neil Young in calling for his music to be removed from the streaming platform. Young protested against the Spotify broadcast of Joe Rogan’s podcast, in which he spread misinformation about the corona vaccines. “You can have Rogan or Young. But not both,” explained the music icon.

That’s exactly how David Crosby sees it. The 80-year-old doesn’t believe that Spotify will still take steps and change direction. “They don’t suddenly develop a sense of moral responsibility. They’re sleazy people… I can’t see them developing a conscience,” he told Stereogum. “I don’t think good people work there. If they were good people, they wouldn’t work there.”

Last year, Crosby sold the rights to his music to the Irving Azoffs’ Iconic Artists Group. The fact that the company agreed to his request to remove his music from Spotify was “incredible and really wonderful,” says the artist. “They said, ‘If that’s what you think you need to do, we’ll do it.’ I was speechless. This is not the normal behavior of a company. They usually chase the dollar and the quickest response possible.”
