David Coulthard, former F1 driver and still part of the Red Bull Racing team, has spoken out about Max Verstappen’s future with the team that currently dominates Formula 1.
Verstappen won his first Formula 1 world championship at the end of 2021 after a fantastic duel with Lewis Hamilton, something he would repeat in a dominant manner in 2022. It can also be said that Verstappen will become world champion in 2023, the only question is when. The Dutchman has won ten races in a row (a record) and has won twelve of the fourteen races so far, while always being on the podium and has not finished lower than P2 in 2023. The Dutchman seems set to pulverize the record for most victories, podiums and points in 2023. Yet Verstappen has often talked about his future, while the Dutchman still has a contract with Red Bull until the end of 2028.

Future Verstappen
In conversation with Motorsport.com Coulthard indicates that he is not concerned about Verstappen’s future, despite the fact that the Dutchman has often talked about his retirement over the past year and a half. “Max [Verstappen] has a great future ahead of him, whatever he ends up doing. Since I am still associated with Red Bull, although I have not raced in F1 for fifteen years, Max can also look forward to similar long-term relationships.”
Attractive partner
Just as Coulthard himself is still associated with Red Bull Racing, he also expects this to remain the case for Verstappen both during and after his career. “It’s the model [lang bij een F1-team blijven] that Jackie Stewart introduced and Max is in the perfect position to build on what he has already achieved. He is very dedicated to racing, does exactly what is needed to get the job done and is authentic in what he delivers. What you see is what you get, and that is attractive to partners.”
