David Coulthard would like to see a Grand Prix held in New York. The Scot thinks it is a beautiful location and a few years ago already drove a circuit that they had in mind at the time. That plan then disappeared in the fridge, but the former F1 driver would like to get that special circuit on the calendar. That it would mean the fourth race in the United States should not be an obstacle either.
Coulthard tells opposite Motorsport.com that attempts have already been made to organize a Grand Prix in the city. “A few years ago we tried to organize a race in New York. I drove that circuit in one of the Red Bull show cars at the time. It was unbelievable. Across the street from Manhattan, with a section where Eau Rouge at Spa was nothing! If they can resurface that plan, that would be the perfect location.”
It would mean the fourth race in America, but that should not be a problem according to the Scottish former F1 driver. ‘Look at the size of the country, then four races is quite possible. And that is the ultimate dream: to conquer America. Each race has its own flavor. America differs enormously from state to state, which is reflected in the events. Austin is a serious track, where we can race. Miami is a kind of hybrid circuit, and Vegas is an adult playground.’

A year ago there was also talk of a Grand Prix in New York. At the time, determining the location was still a stumbling block. Liberty Media did not agree with the location proposed by the mayor of New York. A street race in the Big Apple therefore seemed to be a difficult story. Earlier, Christian Horner also spoke positively about racing in New York.
