David Beckham-Peyton Manning ‘Soccer or Football’-Werbung: Inside Frito-Lay World Cup-Werbung – Jugo-Mobile

is it football or football?

In a new Frito-Lay spot, just in time for the 2022 World Cup, sports superstars turned pop culture icons David Beckham and Peyton Manning discuss the age-old question that has been around since Americans started throwing a round ball on the ground to step.

The ad, which features a variety of soccer-related cameos, features the company in chips (or chips, if you prefer) as one of the official brand sponsors for the 2022 event in Qatar.

In the ad, Becks and Peyton trade jokes about which is the correct word to describe the game of kicking a round object with your feet.

Listens:

Beckham, the golden-haired sensation who turned a glittering career in professional football into a fashion and design supernova, is a soccer stalwart. He makes sense given his Mancunian roots.

Manning, however, chooses football. Pro Football Hall of Famer and all-time great prankster mocks Becks, who owns, among other things, MLS side Inter Miami, an entity Beckham describes as his own “soccer” team. Check mate.

Beckham and Manning weren’t the only ones caught up in the chip craze. US soccer legends Brandi Chastain, Mia Hamm and Julie Foudy all offer their insights on the back and forth, with Chastain going so far as to rip off her shirt to reveal a sports bra with the word “soccer” embroidered on it – a nod to the headed to her famous celebration after scoring the decisive penalty kick in the 1999 Women’s World Cup final.

Finally, American soccer hero Tim Howard and Mexican star Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez finished with a penalty. As expected, Howard prefers the term “football.” Chicharito, on the other hand, is a supporter of “football”… or rather of “fútbol”.

It’s a lively watch that’s sure to be the talk of every British pub in American cities.

But whether you’re British or American, it seems we can all make friends with chips. Or better fries…
