David Alis elected as first president of the University of Rennes after merger with Rennes 1’s component establishments

Since Tuesday May 2, David Alis has been the first president of the University of Rennes. This establishment was created on January 1, 2023. It is the result of the merger between Rennes 1 and its component establishments (EHESP, ENSCR, ENS Rennes, INSA Rennes and Sciences Po Rennes). For this first four-year term (2023-2027), two candidates had been submitted: David Alis, professor of management sciences and Murielle Rabiller-Baudry, professor of chemistry.

With an absolute majority, David Alis won 31 votes, Muriel Rabiller-Baudry 3 votes and 9 members of the board of directors abstained. The elected president led the “Together for the University of Rennes” list. Which had obtained the majority of the seats (11 out of 16) in the colleges of representatives of teacher-researchers and teachers during the ballot which was held last month, April 11-13.

A graduate of ESC Tours in 1991 and of the IAE of Aix-en-Provence, David Alis studied at Essec between 1992 and 1997, after having been an assistant at the IAE of Lille between 1995 and 1997. It was in Brittany, at the IGR-IAE Rennes, part of the University of Rennes 1, that he took up his first post as a lecturer in 1998. He became an associate professor specializing in human resources management in 2001. He was then appointed Director General of the IAE of Rennes and Vice-President of the IAE network, in charge of the research commission, in 2004.

A teacher in management, he conducts parallel research at the CREM, Center for Research in Economics & Management, in particular on the development of flexibility in organizations and on risks and suffering at work. David Alis is also a member of the board of directors of the AGRH, a French-speaking human resources management association, and an elected member of the Société française de management.
