Ex-Megadeth guitarist Jeff Young complained a few days ago about his former boss Dave Mustaine. Now he’s blaming Mustaine again: this time it’s about a specific tour in the late ’80s and why it was cancelled.
Young played with Megadeth from 1987 – until he was fired from the band two years later. Exactly why he was kicked out apparently depends on who you ask. If Mustaine has his way, it’s because Young was allegedly out of heroin in Japan and he was “wanted to go home”. This forced the band to cancel the tour of Australia they planned for their album SO FAR, SO GOOD…SO WHAT! had started.

In a recent Interview Young referenced the differing accounts and claimed that Mustaine had been lying all these years. “That’s what a pathological liar does. Do you mean the YouTube video where he says I ran out of heroin in Japan and canceled the Australian tour? Ever since he did that, I’ve trashed him in the media. Pinocchio has a brother!”
By his own admission, he didn’t even do drugs when he was with Megadeth. “I was straight edge when I joined the band and I never drank, never smoked weed to fit in. Mustaine was the one who canceled the tour.” The 60-year-old also reports that the heroin came from Mustaine. But who is now telling the truth will remain uncertain. For a time, it was said that Young was fired for allegedly hitting on Mustaine’s fiancee, Diana Aragon.
