Perhaps that is why now, by taking a step outside of what was expected of him, he reacts in a sober and transparent way, with a brief statement that aims to avoid ridicule, after the announcement of having become a father, following an extramarital relationship.
“I recently became a father to a new daughter, born out of wedlock,” Grohl wrote briefly on social media. “I plan to be a loving and supportive father to her. I love my wife and my daughters, and I am doing everything I can to earn their trust and forgiveness,” he continued. “We are grateful for their consideration for all of the children involved, as we move forward together.”
He has taken the way of communicating it so seriously that the Instagram post only has the text written on a white background. There are no images. There are no comments added. At the same time, the singer avoided referring to the mother of his new daughter; he also did not give any other information about it.
Meanwhile, Grohl, 55, recently celebrated with his wife Jordyn Blum (48) their 21st wedding anniversary. Their marriage had been celebrated at their home in Los Angeles in 2003. They have three daughters, Violet Maye, 18; Harper Willow, 15, and Ophelia Saint, 10.

Two years after that confession, the musician explained how hard it was for him to go on tour and be away from his family. “I used to tour nine months a year. Now I don’t like to be away from my daughters for more than 12 days. Everything I do has changed. When you have children, you see life in a different light. You feel love more deeply and maybe you are a little more compassionate. It is inevitable that this will come to your songwriting.”
This must have been a big shock inside the Grohl household, as far from being a distant father and very reclusive in his musical career, he knew how to involve his family in artistic matters and accompany that development.
