The shot at Dave Chappelle (48) and Netflix after the premiere of the comedy special “The Closer” earlier in October.
In it, he said, among other things, that he was “team TERF” – which stands for Trans Exclutionary Radical Feminist – a term used for people who do not consider trans women as women.
Furthermore, his jokes in connection with the statement “gender is a fact” were seen as transphobic.
Rumors that Chappelle refused a meeting with Netflix employees who protested against the special circulated on social media afterwards. In a new video published on Instagram Among other things, the comedian rejects the rumors, writes Variety.
He also tells the trans community that they cannot make demands without further ado.
– You can not just summon me. I do not bend to anyone’s demands, he says.
In the video shared with his 2.3 million followers, he still says that he is “more than willing” to talk, but has some conditions:
– First of all, you can not come if you have not seen my special from start to finish.
He also demands that the representatives from the trans community who were to take part in the conversation must admit that the comedian Hannah Gadsby is not funny. Earlier in October wrote Vulture about how Gadsby called Chappelle’s statements «hatefulle».
