What an incredible tragedy.
The daughter of football star Shaquil Barrett (30, Tampa Bay Buccaneers) drowned in the pool at the family’s home in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday – just days after her second birthday.
According to police, Arrayah was taken to a hospital around 9:30 a.m. (local time) on Sunday morning. Rescuers were previously alerted to the house because a child had fallen into the water. Despite life-saving measures, the two-year-old was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Barrett football team also confirmed the accident: “Today’s tragic news is heartbreaking for all members of the Buccaneers family.”
He continued: “Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna and the entire Barrett family at this incredibly difficult time. While no words can offer real comfort at such a time, we offer them our support and love.”

It is still unclear how the accident could have happened. “The investigation is ongoing,” the police report said. However, there is no indication of a crime, it is assumed that it was a “purely coincidental and tragic incident”.
Shaquil Barrett has not yet commented.
