NEW YORK — Malcolm has three daughters.

In the lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court, the daughters, along with Malcolm X’s estate, said that the groups were aware of and involved in the assassination plot and did not stop it.

At a news conference this morning, attorney Ben Crump stood next to family members as he described the lawsuit, saying he hoped federal and city officials would read it “and let them be aware of the heinous acts of their ancestors and try to correct the historical mistakes”.

Law enforcement agencies did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Nicholas Biase, a spokesman for the Justice Department, who was also charged, declined to comment.

For decades, more questions than answers have arisen as to who was responsible for Malcolm’s death. Malcolm X, born Malcolm Little in Omaha, Nebraska, later changed his name to El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz.

Three men were convicted of capital crimes, but two were acquitted in 2021 after investigators re-examined the case and concluded that some evidence was shaky and that authorities have withheld some information.

In the trial, the family said the prosecution team covered up the government’s role in the murder.

Calum

“They didn’t know who killed Malcolm,” he says. . “The damage done to the Shabazz family is unimaginable, immense and irreparable.”

The family announced their intention to sue the authorities early last year.
