Daugavpils tourism offer was successfully promoted at the international tourism exhibition – contact exchange “ITB Berlin NOW 2021” From March 9 to 12 Daugavpils City Municipality Tourism Development and Information Agency, represented by employees of Daugavpils Fortress Culture and Information Center, Šmakovka Museum and Daugavpils Tourism Information Center , in cooperation with the representative of Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Center, participated in one of the most important international tourism exhibitions of this year – contact exchanges “ITB Berlin NOW 2021”.
Daugavpils cities were established on the tourism contact exchange platform brand card, where information about Daugavpils city diverse tourism offer, tourism objects, services and excursions was presented. The event took place in B2B format and its participants could meet with representatives of the tourism industry of different countries in a virtual environment, whom they invited to get to know Daugavpils and include it in their tourism offer.
During the event, new contacts were established, including with such travel agencies as Panbaltica Scandinavia OÜ (Estonia), Delta Tours (Lithuania), HI BALTICS (Lithuania), Voyage & Culture (Netherlands), Baltic Travel Solutions ”(Lithuania),“ Travel Addicts Club ”(Lithuania),“ Horizon Travel Agency ”(Poland),“ INTERCITY ”(Belarus),“ Go Travel ”(Estonia),“ Travel DOT. Nordic ”(Denmark) and others. In general, contacts were established with representatives of countries such as Lithuania, Poland, Estonia, Germany, Belarus, Russia, Bulgaria, Spain, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, China and Croatia.
Cooperation partners asked questions about TOP sights in Daugavpils, excursions in Daugavpils and Daugavpils fortress, events, accommodation, catering companies, hiking and cycling routes, culinary heritage, natural objects, tourist guides, opportunities to go on trips with a tourist group, art objects in Daugavpils, etc. During the year, contacts were made between Lithuanian, Polish and German war reconstruction clubs, which in the future could participate in events in Daugavpils Fortress. In addition, the organizers of the festival “Dinaburg 1812” were invited to an exchange trip to the Poznań Fortress, Poland.
The participants of ITB Berlin NOW 2021 acknowledged that participation in an event of this scale was very valuable. It was a great opportunity to promote the city of Daugavpils and popularize the tourism offer. The established contacts will provide a return in the future and will mark the city of Daugavpils on new tourist routes.
