Criminal violations were registered thanks to the goalkeeper of Ukraine Danilo Kucer, who played for “BFC” in 2019 Dagavpils” in the ranks. The Ukrainian goalkeeper refused to be involved in suspicious activities. Later, the Ukrainian reported what was happening to the responsible authorities. Giving his -into Kucher, the police conducted an investigative test, which ended with the arrest of the alleged perpetrators.
The investigators found that Grauze offered Kucher 3,000 euros for one “necessary” product through the “Telegram” app on behalf of Gavrilova. Gavrilov encouraged Grauz to arrange a meeting with the Ukrainian goalkeeper, which happened – Grauz introduced Kucher to Gavrilov as a football agent. During the meeting, Kucer was given the opportunity to earn “up to 5,000 euros”, according to the prosecutors.
Gavrilov selected an away match “BFC Daugavpils” against “Riga FC”, which took place on September 30, 2019, as the affected match. Grauze and Gavrilov could not bet on this match because they were held.
The second program is related to the first league match in Latvia between the team “Smiltene/BJSS” and “Dinamo Riga/Staicele”, in which the defenders Jurgensons and Andrejevs played in 2019. The match took place in the Smiltene on September 21, the home team won, but Jürgensons scored two goals.
Grauze, making Gavrilov’s position, agreed with Jurgenson and Andrejeva that they would ensure the desired result of the game – both teams had to score more than three goals together. The prosecutor’s office believes Jurgensons and Andrejev agreed to Grauze’s offer. If Jurgenson had not scored a goal during the match, Andreev would have to score a certain number of goals, the prosecutor’s lawsuit says.

Scandal has stirred quite a debate in the football community. What measures do you think should be implemented to prevent such incidents in the future?
Interviewer: Welcome to World Today News, where we discuss the latest developments in the world of football. Today, we have two special guests with us – Danilo Kucer, the Ukrainian goalkeeper who recently exposed a match-fixing scandal in Latvia, and Alexander Grauze, the alleged mastermind behind the scheme.
Kucer, can you tell us about the events that led to your discovery of this match-fixing plot? Were there any red flags that made you suspicious?
Kucer: Yes, sure. It all started when a man named Grauz approached me with an offer to help me make some extra money. He claimed to be a friend of a friend and said he could arrange a meeting with someone who could help me earn up to 5,000 euros. At first, I thought it was too good to be true, but I decided to give it a chance. However, during the meeting, it became clear that this was not a legitimate business proposal. The person I met, Gavrilov, introduced himself as a football agent and pressured me into fixing a match. That’s when I realized something was wrong and reported the incident to the authorities.
Interviewer: Grauze, what would you like to say about your role in this scandal? How did you involve Kucer in your plan?
Grauze: My intention was never to fix a match or involve anyone in illegal activities. I was approached by someone I trusted, who asked me to recruit some players for him. I didn’t know the nature of their intentions, and I believed they were legitimate. I introduced Kucer to Gavrilov as a football agent and arranged a meeting. Unfortunately, things went wrong, and the police became involved.
Interviewer: It’s interesting to note that Kucer refused to be involved in the scheme. What factors do you think contributed to his decision?
Kucer: As a professional footballer, I take playing fair very seriously. I know the consequences of match-fixing can be severe, not only for me but also for my teammates and the entire sport. I decided not to risk it and immediately informed the responsible authorities about what was happening. It was a difficult decision, but I believe it was the right thing to do.
