230 vintage cars for a dream plateau. The 30th edition of the Tour Auto starts on Monday August 30 on the Champ-de-Mars, in Paris. The 2,000 kilometers of course will allow competitors to reach Nice via Beaune, Aix-les-Bains, Valence and Nîmes. As always, this will be an opportunity to discover the charms of France and the curves of vintage vehicles.

The Tour Auto is a historic car rally mixing circuit and special stages. In between these highlights, the competitors must cover open road links within the allotted time.

Crews can register in the speed and regularity categories. In the first case, the competitors are decided according to their time on the tests. In the second case, the tandems aim to respect as much as possible the average speed that they have chosen on the courses. Delays and too early arrivals are subject to penalties in the final classification.

Date

Organizer of the event, Peter Auto announced on Wednesday February 24, the report the Tour Auto 2021 in September, health crisis obligatory. Initially scheduled from April 19 to 24, this 30th edition will finally be held from August 30 to September 4, 2021. “We must respect all the measures aimed at protecting the public, the competitors, their teams, the partners and all the people mobilized for the organization of this great event. As a reminder, in 2020, the organization had already been forced to postpone the ordeal to the end of August, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The list of entries was also a little smaller than usual, in particular because of the difficulties posed by travel between continents. Despite this new postponement, the route of the Tour Auto 2021 is unchanged. It was revealed last January 20, by lifting the veil on the names of the cities that will host the event. So the heading east and south passing through Beaune (Côte-d’Or), Aix-les-Bains (Savoie), Valence (Drôme) and Nîmes (Gard), with a expected arrival in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes).

Journey

On January 20, 2021, the organizers revealed the route of this 30th edition. The departure meeting point will take place in Paris, in a brand new setting, that of Grand-Palais Ephémère on the Champ-de-Mars, announces Peter Auto. The next day, the 230 cars left the capital for the official starting point of the rally: the Château de Courances. Subsequently, the Tour Auto 2021 caravan will head east and south to travel 1,930 kilometers.

On its way, the ordeal will pass through the towns of Beaune (Côte-d’Or), Aix les Bains (Savoie), Valence (Drôme) and Nîmes (Gard), with a expected arrival in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes). Peter Auto specifies that all the competitors set off for five days to conquer four circuits (Dijon-Prenois, Bresse, Lédenon and Paul-Ricard) and ten special stages. As a reminder, if the stages and the circuits taken have already been revealed, the stages are secret until a few hours after the arrival of the competitors.

Spectators

Spectators can witness the passage of competitors on the open roads. But to get the best out of old vehicles, two other solutions are recommended: go to one of the circuits visited by the race (Dijon-Prenois, Circuit de Bresse, Lédenon, Paul-Ricard) or in one of the closed parks where vehicles park in the late afternoon and early evening.
