Date producers from BC will participate in the UES conference

MEXICALI.- Producers from the Valley of Mexicali, Baja California, will participate tomorrow, February 17, in the training course for Date Palm Producers, which is organized by the State University of Sonora (UES), San Luis Unit Colorado River.

The Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development in the State reported that the course is aimed at date palm producers in the Valley of Mexicali, San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora, students of careers related to Agriculture and Horticulture, as well as the general public.


The event will begin at 8:45 in the morning and will take place at the Postgraduate Building of the UES, San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora, which is located along the San Luis Rio Colorado-Sonoyta Highway Km 6.5. Colonia Industrial, of the aforementioned city of Sonora.


The agency highlighted that during the training there will be 5 presentations and a master conference, in which Dr. Antonio Morales Maza, researcher at the National Institute of Forestry, Agricultural and Livestock Research (INIFAP) of Baja California, will participate, with the theme: The Fertilization of the Date Palm.


In the same way, the following topics will be exposed: Extraction and planting of Vegetative Material; Date Palm Irrigation Control; Management of Pollen and Pollination of the Date Palm, as well as the Treatment of the Bunch, which will be in charge of various field technicians and crop consultants, as well as by UES researchers, Doctors Ricardo Salomón Torres and Noé Ortiz Uribe.


Finally, the Secretary of Agriculture commented that the keynote address will be given by the producer from the Mexicali Valley and president of the Date Kings Company, Engineer Natividad Jaime, who will speak about the Strategies for the production of Quality Dates.
