Jakarta (ANTARA) – PT Datascrip as the sole distributor of its digital imaging products in Indonesia, for Canon products officially presents the RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye lens.
Canon believes that this lens will be the world’s first interchangeable lens camera, which can take pictures stereoscopic 3D with 180 degree angles to create high optical quality VR content.
“This lens is equipped with two lenses fisheye which produces effect parallax which can be used to create 180° three-dimensional (3D) VR images. When paired to the camera mirrorless EOS R5 or EOS R5 C, this lens allows users to take advantage of 8K recording capabilities to produce ultra-high video quality,” said Head of Marketing Division Canon Business Unit PT Datascrip, Syailendra Kamdani in his official statement, quoted on Friday.

In the notes provided, the Canon RF 5.2mm F/2.8L Dual Fisheye is part of Canon’s new ecosystem, namely the EOS Virtual Reality System (VR System) which consists of Canon EOS R series cameras (EOS R5 & R5C), VR-only RF lenses and the EOS VR Utility software.
“With the EOS VR System, images are only taken using one camera and with one CMOS image sensor,” he explained.
The light that enters each “eye” of the Canon RF 5.2mm F/2.8L Dual Fisheye lens is captured by the CMOS image sensor in one camera.
This is very efficient as it cuts down on the conventional VR video production flow that requires camera alignment and synchronization before shooting, as well as having to fuse images together in post-production.
Users can easily convert videos to standard VR formats and process them using the EOS VR Utility software, and can even be processed using Adobe Premier Pro via the EOS VR Plug-in software.
This lens is equipped with two lenses fisheye f/2.8-F/16 and focal length 60mm with manual focus, and has the high optical quality typical of Canon’s L series lenses.
The close placement of the two lenses is capable of producing 3D stereoscopic VR images with an angle of 180° with parallax natural that almost resembles the human eye.
PT Datascrip Indonesia markets the Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye lens at a price of IDR 39.7 million.
