Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Electronics giant Acer confirmed they were hacked by a group hacker. This was announced to the public after a hacker reveal it first in a special forum.
“We recently detected illegal access to one server our documents. Our investigation is still ongoing. There is currently no indication that consumer data is stored on server that,” said Acer, quoted from SecurityWeekWednesday (8/3/2023).
Acer issued the statement after a hacker announced on a popular hacker forum that he sold over 2,800 files totaling 160GB in size. The mysterious hacker did not publish the price set.
Hacker claims that the file is included slide confidential, staff manual, confidential product documentation, binary files, information about infrastructure back-endreplacement digital product key, BIOS-related information, etc.
In the forum, hacker claim the data they got in mid-February.
This isn’t the first time Acer has confirmed a leak. In October 2021, the tech giant acknowledged that server in India and Taiwan were hacked after a group claimed to have stolen more than 60GB of data from company systems.
