They added that on March 31 two million 910 thousand 208 of satellite, of which one million 156 thousand 418 are from the first component and one million 753 thousand 418 from the second.
They add that between April 1 and 7, one million 901 thousand doses of Moderna will expire.
Óscar Chávez, analysts of said organization, said that the Ministry of Health will not have the capacity to apply them and “Millions of vaccines will be thrown away.”
“We estimate that there are about six million vaccines available and at the current rate of vaccination, what we expect is that a large part of these vaccines will expire, we are talking about some doses of AstraZeneca, Moderna and much of Sputnik it is most likely that they will win, precisely because with Sputnik there are big problems to be able to take it to all the departments of the country, There is still no infrastructure and resources necessary to take Sputnik to all the vaccination centers and that has slowed down the rate of vaccination, so all this vaccine that is part of the eight million that the Government of Guatemala bought is going to be lost” Chavez said.
The largest number of vaccines that are about to expire, both this month and in the next three months, are from satellite, for which the government of President Alejandro Giammattei paid US$10 per dose; however, according to the Data Laboratory, apart from the rejection of the drug, the health portfolio has not had the capacity to distribute them and guarantee their useful life.
In February alone, one million 61 thousand 412 doses of the russian Vaccines, which can no longer be used, and between March 31 and April 30 another three million 808 thousand 728 doses are expected to expire.
Health was consulted on what they will do to prevent the vaccines from being lost, but so far they have not responded to the queries.
