Darwin, a very rare copy of “The Origin of Species” up for auction in London

There is also the author’s autograph dedication in this very rare original copy of a classic like The origin of the species of the “father of evolution”, the great naturalist Charles Darwinwhich will go up for auction in London at Bonhams on 20 March along with many other rare books and manuscripts. The copy to the delight of evolutionism fans is offered with a record estimate of 150-200 thousand pounds, equal to 175-223 thousand euros.

This is an artefact down, because when in the 1859 the book was first published only 1,250 copies of the study explaining Darwin’s theory of evolution were printed.

The naturalist gave one to the illustrious botanist and doctor of British origin H.A. Hugh Weddell, which he greatly admired, and this is precisely the one that will go up for auction. Dr. Weddell’s name was on the handwritten list of people to receive copies of the first edition of On the Origin of Species written by Darwin himself between August and October 1859.
