The dart players left at the Darts World Cup are going to celebrate Christmas for a while! The Darts World Cup will be paused for three days and then continue until January 3. Quite a few Dutch people have already died, but there is still plenty to cheer for. Below is an overview of which Dutch players are still in the Darts World Cup and who they will face after the Christmas break.
World Darts Championships after Christmas
There are a total of 4 Dutch people left who will be allowed to compete again at the Darts World Cup after Christmas. Berry van Peer, Raymond van Barneveld, Richard Veenstra and Michael van Gerwen are the names we see again at the Darts World Cup. A look back at how the darts players have done so far.
Michael van Gerwen
Van Gerwen has only played 1 game at the Darts World Cup, because he was free in the 1st round. He won very easily against Keane Barry 3-0. He himself thought there was still plenty of work to be done. “I told myself that I had to throw at least an average of 100, but the fact that I didn’t succeed is unfortunate. There is plenty of room for improvement,” he said after that match. In the 3rd round he plays against fellow countryman Richard Veenstra.

Richard Veenstra
On to MvG’s opponent, Richard Veenstra. Veenstra has had a great World Cup so far. In the 1st round he won 3-0 against Ben Robb and in the 2nd round he defeated Kim Huybrechts 3-0. So 2 clean sweeps! He is not afraid of Van Gerwen: “If I play like this, everything is possible,” he said to Huybrechts after the game.
Raymond van Barneveld
Van Barneveld is in very good shape at the Darts World Cup and he showed it all in his match against Radek Szaganski in the 2nd round. He won 3-1 against the Pole and will face Jim Williams in the 3rd round. It owes its shape mainly to its set-up of arrows. “With this set-up, I really expect great things in the coming year.” Then get off to a good start with the Darts World Cup, Barney!

Berry van Peer
Berry van Peer has surprisingly qualified for the 3rd round of the Darts World Cup. He won 3-2 against Luke Woodhouse in the 1st round and 3-1 against Josh Rock in round 2. The latter in particular was quite a stunt. Rock is number 21 in the world, Van Peer 107. In the next round he plays against Damon Heta. It’s great that he would perform because just before the World Cup he bruised his ribs: “So you can go far with bruised ribs at the World Cup,” the Dutchman himself joked.
