The Museum Jagdschloss Kranichstein / Bioversum in Darmstadt offers special corona events to bridge the time of the lockdown. The interest is very great.
There are currently not many recreational opportunities due to the corona lockdown. The Darmstadt Museum Jagdschloss Kranichstein / Bioversum, like all museums closed, has therefore added special events to its program that can be used despite the shutdown. According to press spokeswoman Caroline Pantke, the offers have been very well received.
The “History Hunt”, for example, involves solving puzzles at various stations around the hunting lodge. The whole thing works completely without contact with employees of the museum, explains Pantke. Anyone who has registered for the escape game will receive a number code. This can be used to open the lock of the play backpack, which is available outside the museum and contains play accessories and tasks.
Similar to a paper chase, the participants work their way from station to station. “Logical thinking and teamwork are required to uncover stories and traces from the past of the Kranichstein hunting lodge,” says the description. Numerous bookings have already been made, as can be seen in the calendar on the museum’s website.
Refusals because of the tightened contact restrictions were only given by larger groups that consisted of more than two households, says Pantke. Cost of the event: 50 euros flat rate. In the summer, the History Hunt, which is currently only offered twice a day, so that the groups do not meet, will be expanded.
The second new Corona offer is also going well, reports Pantke. Bookings have even been received from Munich. “Aufgetischt” is the title of an online tasting – a mixture of digital offerings and real historical demonstrations in the hunting lodge. You can watch a scene game that is performed live on site, while at home you can eat sausage specialties from game from the Kranichstein Forest. You get this delivered. During the meal you can communicate with the other participants and the actors on site and learn a lot about the historical cuisine. The one and a half hour tasting is also offered to companies and costs 200 euros plus 25 euros per tasting package for two people.
The museum has been offering the free “Jagdschloss Kranichstein” app since 2018. You can travel through history at two stations on the market square and in front of the castle as well as seven stations around the hunting lodge.
Short films about the locations will be shown. Landgrave Georg himself is there, wondering what has changed in his residence over the past 425 years.
Historical stalking can also currently be undertaken. On the four-and-a-half kilometer route through the Kranichstein Forest, which can be covered on foot or by bike, there are boards that provide adventure elements for children and adults to join in; In between, further boards provide information about specific events on site.
With all these offers, the losses caused by the current closure of the museum cannot be completely offset, says Pantke. But it is better than nothing.
