City of Darmstadt/district of Darmstadt-Dieburg (ots) –
The police in Darmstadt and in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district are currently receiving numerous calls from citizens who report having received fraudulent “shock calls”. Knowing these reports, the officials do not want to waste any time and use this as an opportunity to warn of the fraudulent calls. The criminals use the so-called “shock call scam”, in which the voice at the other end of the phone suggests that a family member was involved in a serious or even fatal traffic accident and now several tens of thousands of euros would be due to avoid detention.
Because it cannot be ruled out that such calls will continue to be made during the course of the day, the police continue to urge vigilance and advise: simply hang up the phone! If in doubt, contact your police.
Police continue to warn:
– Do not be discouraged, especially when asked about your valuables
– Inquire yourself with the person concerned, using the phone number you know
