OB: Vaccination operation must be ensured
A demonstration announced by “lateral thinking” “in the immediate vicinity of our vaccination center we will not tolerate and we want to prevent it”, said Mayor Jochen Partsch (Greens). It must be ensured that citizens who want to use the services of the vaccination center can do so without impairment. In consideration of the freedom of assembly and expression and the health protection of the population, a general ban on the demonstration is not possible after a thorough legal examination. “Nevertheless, we are resolutely opposed to developments like the one in Kassel last weekend,” said Partsch.
Three counter-demonstrations registered
When the rally was announced, there were numerous reactions from the population who expressed a lack of understanding about its implementation, according to the city. There are now three registered counter-demonstrations: one with 500 registered people and two with around 50 registered participants each.

“Think outside the box” demo in Darmstadt: counter-protests in front of the vaccination center announced
The “Alliance against the Right” has announced a counter rally with an information stand and speeches from 2 pm. The Karolinenplatz is directly opposite the Vaccination center in the Darmstadtium Congress Center. There was already in January by vaccination opponents harassment and harassment of employees and vaccinees.
Registrations have been made for both events, as a spokeswoman for the South Hesse police headquarters said on Tuesday at the request of the Frankfurter Rundschau. The deployment is currently being prepared under the impression of the events in Kassel. Last Saturday, 20,000 people demonstrated against the corona restrictions, largely without adhering to hygiene rules. The lack of cracking down on the police force had been criticized many times.
Lord Mayor comments on large demonstration
Update from March 24th, 3:35 p.m .: A request from the Frankfurter Rundschau about the number of registered participants initially remained unanswered until Wednesday afternoon. Meanwhile, Darmstadt’s Lord Mayor Jochen Partsch (Greens) expressed himself critical of the announced demo during the meeting of the city crisis team: “The employees of the clinics, who have been doing such great things in a state of emergency for a year now and fighting against Covid-19 every day, deserve our greatest respect and recognition, ”said Partsch (Greens). Against the background of these extraordinary burdens in the health system, “denial tendencies and the associated large-scale demonstrations are all the more frightening”. The personal feedback from the clinic staff also showed that there, at the forefront in the fight against the pandemic, “there is a great lack of understanding of these currents,” says Partsch.
