Darmstadt 98 Fans Fined for Pyrotechnic Displays in Hessen Derby

Supporters of Darmstadt 98 are said to have set off at least 62 pyrotechnic objects in the Hessen derby against Eintracht Frankfurt. This is now costing the club dearly.

Darmstadt 98 has been fined 37,200 for “unsportsmanlike conduct by his supporters”. This was announced by the German Football Association (DFB) on Friday. The sports court of the German Football Association punished the incidents in the Hessen derby in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup at the Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt.

During the game on February 7, fans of the second division leaders detonated at least 62 pyrotechnic objects. The club, up to 12,400 Euro of the total sum for security-related or violence-prevention measures has already approved the verdict.
