Dark Mortal Shell has suddenly got a release date

Just over a month after the game’s open beta, Mortal Shell has now received an official launch date via a recent trailer.

The action-packed trailer (which you can watch above) shows a number of new clips from the game, before concluding by revealing that the game will be released in just under two weeks, on August 18 this year. Mortal Shell will then be launched on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (initially only via Epic Games Store).

Mysterious fantasy with unique characters

Mortal Shell is the latest game in a long line of games that have been inspired by the phenomenal The Dark Souls formula. Here it goes in difficult enemy clashes, gradual understanding of attack patterns and regular progression through dark and mysterious fantasy universes.

What sets Mortal Shell apart from similar games is the ability to discover and choose from unique archetypes as you explore the universe. You can also build up information about objects when you use them to get a better effect, while there is also a unique block function baked into the combat system.

We took a closer look at the game’s open beta earlier this summer, and were very pleased with what we were served:

– Mortal Shell immediately feels like a polished game that can stand on its own two feet. Much of the reason for this has to do with the combat system, which appears silky soft and heavy at the same time, wrote Andreas Bjørnbekk in our sneak peek.

Mortal Shell launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on August 18th.
