How do art, literature, theater and acrobatics come together? And then on the subject of the climate crisis? The “Aerocircus” dares to experiment in Berlin. Win tickets for the performance on December 6th here
The author Thomas Köck, artist Tomas Saraceno and the actors and actresses of the RambaZamba Theater in Berlin came together.
The flying “Aerocircus”, which takes place on 5/6/9. and December 10th at the Berlin Festival House, deals with the consequences of an ecologically devastated planet. The circus ensemble is only slowly beginning to understand that “the overheated earth is an artistic challenge,” as it says in the announcement of the performances. In the stage set created by Saraceno, the acrobats and tightrope walkers, the clowns and mimes approach the planet again, piece by piece – and take the audience with them on their journey.
The artist Tomás Saraceno, who comes from Argentina, has lived and worked in Berlin for more than ten years. His room-filling installations are futuristic-looking constructs made of nets and bubble-shaped models that float from the ceiling and can often be walked on. Similar to the play, his designs aim to give “evidence and visibility” to the web of life. The artist is also familiar with flying; he has been researching fossil-free methods of air travel for years. And fly through the arena without fuel – the “Aerocircus” ensemble can do that too.
