Daria Simeonova: Life is a strange place – I tell myself that I have learned a lot and in a second she refutes me

Daria Simeonova was born on October 23, 1989 in Sofia. In May 2011 he graduated from the National Academy of Theater and Film Arts, majoring in acting for dramatic theater in the class of Prof. Dr. Atanas Atanasov and since February 2012 is part of the troupe of Sofia Theater, where he debuted as Manager of Tiramisu. to the director Nikolai Polyakov. He is currently involved in “The Night of January 16”, “Dinner”, “Old Sabrook and the Last Passionate Lover” and others.

She also played in the Sfumato Theater Workshop. Participates in the series “Undercover” on BNT and “Stolen Life” on NOVA, and now in “Don’t Think of Me” on bTV. She was nominated for “Icarus”, “Askeer”, and in the cinema her latest work is in “Mother” of Zornitsa-Sofia, which was shot in Africa and which is a very thoroughbred and interesting work for the actress.

– Hello Daria, do we find you in an intense period of acting – a series, rehearsals in the theater?

Yes! (he is smiling). You catch me in a very active period. The photos of the series “Don’t think of me” are going on, and in parallel with them we started the rehearsals of the new performance of the Sofia Theater – “Lulu”. We are about to premiere on April 20. I even had to be replaced in one project, simply because I don’t have the physical time for another commitment. I can not complain!

– With Vessela Babinova, you are both godmothers of Luiza Grigorova, you are close, how does it feel to play with a friend?

It’s great to play with a friend, especially when he (in this case “she”) is a very good actor! With Vesela, our professional paths have not met so far and it is a real pleasure to have honest emotions and faithful eyes of a close person against you! You guessed it, there was no moment of getting to know, working with or getting closer to her – these things already existed, we just moved them to the field.

– Now you are competing for the heart of a man – Rushi, how do you comment on this with Vesela, are you kidding?

Asya and Yana compete, we laugh and communicate as friends (laughs)

– Why are your screen heroines called Asya – she was like that in “Undercover” and now in “Don’t think of me”?

Come on?! Why? I don’t know … This is my second heroine named “Asya”, and I’ve played women named “Natalia” three times. That’s how it happens. The good thing is that everyone is very different and the current “Asya Zaharieva” has nothing to do with “Asya” from “Undercover”.

– Have you ever felt “Asya” in your life, what do you have to do with the image in the bTV series?

I didn’t feel like Asya, maybe just a little bit about her relationship with Martin. I have had similar moments in my life. Otherwise we don’t have much in common. Her world is not mine. This moderation, orderliness and delicacy are rather distant to me. For me, everything is much more chaotic, gunpowder, emotional …

– How did you create the heroine?

The main point of reference when talking to the directors about the image is her upbringing. The way she is taught to show / hide her emotions, to behave with people, to react in certain situations. The environment in which she grew up and what was given or taken away from her parents. I love and look for “cracking” in my heroines the most. What is the moment when this etiquette and behavior are violated by the outburst of what is deeply hidden in the soul … Everyone has it and carries it in himself, he just kills with different frequency and means. That’s how I create it. With the help of directors, screenwriters and submissions from my partners, of course!

– How are the photos going, tell a funny story from the set?

The filming days are full of laughter, sometimes even tears. We often sing in the field, especially Rushi’s songs. It’s fun! An incident I remember: in one of the scenes I had in my line “check with ESGRAON”. I wondered for a long time where the emphasis was, it’s not an abbreviation I say every day, and I rehearsed from the side before entering the stage. I repeated “ESGRAON” probably 1000 times and finally – action! I go to my colleagues and with all my conviction say “check with ESTRAGON”. We burst out laughing. Nobody managed to hold back … and on every double – I enter the stage and before I said a word, we all started laughing … and so many doubles. We barely calmed down.

– You graduated in “Toys”, what are your first works, what, how much, what did you make? What is your style in this craft?

I made toys from flat wood, from bulky wood, from fabric, plush toys, from plaster … everything that was in the program of the specialty. I don’t have my own style in this craft, I didn’t build one because I just graduated from SHUPI and my life turned sharply to the acting profession.

“Are you still doing it?” Do you have a favorite

No, I don’t. I didn’t make a toy from school … unfortunately, maybe.

Tell us about the time when you watched movies with your mother in the cabin, where were you, this movie dust from the spotlight, similar to the theater, did it make you fall in love with art and acting?

– I have many fleeting memories from that time. I remember that she worked in the “East” cinema for some time and there I watched a film with the military in camouflage uniforms. But who this movie was … I don’t know. I only remember the dust that flew in the spotlight from the hardware to the cinema … At that time I had no idea that I would ever do that.

– Share about the film “Mother”, which is being shot in Kenya – how was the shooting process going there? What was that experience like for you?

– It was an amazing experience! Such a strong and intense process. So many challenges. So many emotions and situations. So many children’s eyes … I still don’t know what kind of experience this was for me, I can’t verbalize it and I’m not sure I realized it. I know that we were real “warriors”, as Zornitsa Sofia – the director of the film – says. My feeling for the filming process of “Mother” is for a total togetherness, for flight, for dealing with the impossible, for infinity and, one of our inner jokes – for AF, which means African Freestyle.

– What is the story of the film and how did you call your heroine to light?

The story is real. A woman, a theater director, who is creating a project in Shiroka Laka for the integration of orphans in society through art. This project was subsequently exported to Africa and gained a completely different scale there. What happens to the heroine in her life, along with her projects, makes the story extremely valuable and relevant. The film deals with the topic of parenthood and the essence of this word. What does it mean for you have child and to bew parent.

The heroine “planted” Zornitsa in me. We had a very good and long preparation, which is a pure luxury, at least compared to the projects in which I have participated so far. I did research, researched, met the real person I play … I invested a lot of myself, totally and without appeal. And what happened – I do not know, we’ll see.

– What did you see first hand about life there, would you describe it?

Life in Kenya is radically different from ours. And in Cybera – the largest ghetto in Kenya … I don’t even know how to describe it in a few words. It will be most thorough to see in the film. Poverty and sincere happiness live hand in hand.

– Tell us about the children you seem to have made friends with there?

These children will stay in my heart forever! So pure, fighting, grateful … Sincerely happy and unpretentious. Poverty makes them appreciate the really important things and fly very high in their dreams.

– What are your hobbies, your favorite activities?

I love to travel, to hug my son and husband, to watch good movies … things like that.

– Let’s mention your brother and his path in the acting profession, did you get excited about it, how do you help him in his path?

In fact, Zhivko was the first to go to theater school, I enrolled after him, but because I am older – I was the first to apply and started practicing. He is currently a freelancer. He has participated in a number of free performances, several films and is doing very well. I only help him with reminders and advice when he needs it. But I try not to confuse him unnecessarily or to “push” him back and forth. I believe that everyone has their own way and if someone puts you in a place you are not ready for – it will play a bad trick on you. You can expose yourself a lot if you are entrusted with a responsibility whose burden you cannot yet bear. Therefore, let him develop at his own pace and let the roles that he has won happen to him.

– Tell us about your loved ones at home Max and Anton – how do you have fun, what do you like to do, what questions Max cheers you up or makes you think?

Max and Tony are my boys and my greatest joy! At home we like to play, cook together and dance. We love to discover new things together and show Max the world. And he is a very alert and funny boy. In the morning he asked me about the ticks (a word that is difficult for him to pronounce and sounds a bit like “gnawing”) and whether the scorpion can beat a tick? Hahahahaha!

– Have you planned a wedding?

– Our daily life is quite active and we do not make long-term plans. At this stage we live and cope with the days.

– The war in Ukraine – what is your position and how do you think this will end?

I’m shocked by what’s happening … and meaningless. I watch, I read, I watch how things develop and I can’t understand how in a supposedly civilized world we got here. Children are dying, hospitals and homes are being destroyed, thousands of human beings are being buried alive under the remains of a bombed theater … Those in power are playing a hell of a game of supremacy, appropriating territories and targeting sanctions. Like a very bad movie. But quite real. My feeling is that things are being decided or have already been decided on completely different levels, and the common man is just a scapegoat. I don’t know how this will end, I just hope it will be soon. Until then, my position is to help as much as I can and not to remain indifferent to the suffering of people whose lives are falling apart at the moment!

– Let’s say a few words about your role in the new production “Lulu”, which you are rehearsing?

From the war to the role. These transitions have been very, very difficult for me in recent days …. I play Countess von Geschwitz – an emancipated, strong woman … different from the conventional and extremely loving.

– This year you are entering the age of Christ – what did you learn about life and what did not?

– Life is a strange place. I keep telling myself that I have learned a lot, and he refutes me in a second. I try to be honest and dedicated in my days. To be a support and support to my relatives and not to be afraid to ask for help. I no longer try to convince others of my opinion or position and change them. I’m just trying to be surrounded by like-minded people and people who deserve my love, as I hope theirs.

– Is there a question you always wanted to be asked but not asked?

There is no. Sometimes I even wonder how you can ask me so many things and whether they are all interesting for readers …
