In a conversation with our editors, actress Daphne Paelinck spoke openly for the first time about the abuse she was a victim of as a twelve-year-old girl. “His abuse lasted until I was 14. As a teenager it is difficult to realize that you are being manipulated by an adult, but in the end I called the police myself and the man was convicted.”
Daphne would now like to talk about it publicly, in her own words to send a clear message to victims and possible future victims. Daphne is also the person who went to the police last year, after she became aware of the Pichal case involving the distribution of images of child abuse.
Daphne studied and worked with Reuben DB, one of the suspects in the file surrounding the possession and distribution of images of child sexual abuse in which ex-radio maker Sven Pichal is also a suspect.
Paelinck also recently met Benoit D., another suspect in the file, who worked behind the scenes at Loge10, the theater company behind the production ‘Gaslicht’ in which she plays a leading role. “I wanted to do my civic duty, like any normal citizen should do.”
