At the end of July, Daouda Peeters had become the first Belgian to play for Juventus. The young Belgian had played a few minutes in the league. Since then, he has been waiting to get his chance again.

14 minutes. This is the playing time of young Daouda Peeters with Juventus Turin last season. This quarter of an hour, he had obtained on the occasion of the 37th day of Serie A played on July 29. Juve were beaten 2-0 by Cagliari but whatever. For Peeters, History was being written.

However, since that match, the former Club Brugge has not been given a chance. With patience, he waits, polishing his weapons with the U23 of the Old Lady, in Serie C, where he is an indisputable holder. However, in recent weeks Andrea Pirlo seems to be slowly starting to trust him. What if the first minutes of the season were all around the corner?

On the bench

During the 4th and 5th days, Daouda Peeters had already been able to sit on the bench during matches against Crotone and Hellas Verona. The young Belgian, however, was not up to the game. He had to wait a long time before being taken over by Pirlo again. It was indeed only during the first leg of the Italian Cup semi-final that the name of Peeters was written on the sheet.

Since then, Peeters has been taken over each time by the ancient legend of Italian football. Against Spezia (Tuesday 8:45 p.m.), he should again take his place on the bench. And who knows, with maybe his first minutes of the season? In any case, this would mark a progression in the development of the median.

Linear progression

As we have said, in Serie C, Daouda Peeters is indisputable holder with the U23 of Juve (41 games played). In a few years, he went from Mol to Juventus via Dessel, Lierse, Club Brugge and Sampdoria. A constant progression which must now find an echo in the first team.

At 22, it is indeed time now for the defensive midfielder to assert himself in a first division championship. We therefore hope that the second half of the season for Juventus will also be his.
