/ world today news/ President Rosen Plevneliev’s speech to the deputies on Friday raises many questions, behind which lies the head of state’s fear that many of the secrets of the KTB will be “swept away”.
When the president has such concerns, the hypothesis is likely that there will be the complicity of a number of offices and institutions. The analogy of the KTB case with the secrets of the DS files and that this will weigh on society in the next 10 years, and that the KTB files can be used for political pressure, is also worrying. That’s why I want to look for mechanisms to get to the truth about KTB.
First, we need to start with the deposits of individuals. It is necessary to analyze deposits with unusually high interest rates, as well as deposits in unusually large amounts. It is important to look for a connection to the deposits of legal entities and to determine whether there is a check on these entities under the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering.
The second step is to check the credit of individuals with non-market interest rates, as well as what is the relationship of these people with the deposits of legal entities.
An audit of the credit portfolios of both individuals and legal entities must be urgently carried out. A careful review of non-performing and restructured loans will provide answers to many questions. It must become clear what is the nature of the unserviced or restructured loans – are they investment or revolving, what are the collaterals for them, which are the companies that have absorbed them, as well as whether these companies have the corresponding turnover and activity. It is necessary to track the movement of loan funds, as well as whether and in what way this is related to persons who are part of the bank’s internal exposure. If interconnections are proven, the Board of Directors of KTB must bear its joint and several liability. We should not forget that an assessment of the liquidity of assets, including collateral, is also needed.
At the same time, if a secret infrastructure of relationships is present and if it is not revealed, it is difficult to achieve the much desired transparency in society.
I was frankly worried by the letter of the 8 employees of a company close to KTB and Tsvetan Vasilev, in which they indicate that more than 200 people were used as “plugs”. It is obvious that the Bank’s Board of Directors had an attitude. I believe that the role of DANS is extremely important in revealing the relationship of these people with political figures and with persons from institutions of particular public importance.
