/ world today news/ State Agency “National Security” reprimanded the Minister of Defense Nikolay Nenchev in less than a month.
The counter-intelligence has denied access to classified information to Zdravko Bodjov, who at the beginning of April was appointed manager of the company “Supply and Trade” of the Ministry of Defense, reports in today’s issue of the newspaper “24 Chasa”. Before Bodjov took the post, the manager of the company for a few months was Rositsa Ruseva, to whom DANS also denied access to classified information. Ruseva became famous for “dismissing key weapons experts and heads of major military warehouses in the country without a basic transmission protocol,” the publication recalls.
The new manager of “Supply and Trade” of the Ministry of Defense is Valentin Simeonov, who held the same position in the first government of GERB. Simeonov enjoys the trust of the former military minister from GERB Anyu Angelov, who is currently an adviser on defense issues to Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. The change at the top of the company, which is responsible for the supplies and equipment of the army and has a turnover of tens of millions of BGN per year, is another failure in the personnel policy of Nikolay Nenchev, who as the leader of the National Security Service, entered the government from the quota of the Reform Bloc. The two proposed directors also turned out to be political appointees from the Reform Bloc. Rositsa Ruseva was an unsuccessful candidate for a deputy of the Republic of Belarus. It also became clear that Ruseva and Nenchev are from the same village – Kukorevo, Yambolsko. Zdravko Bodjov, who held the director’s post for about two weeks, is the chairman of the Union of Social Democrats – Lozenets district. By law, the services do not disclose the reasons for denials of access to classified information.
Apart from DANS, Nikolay Nenchev was publicly reproached for his personnel policy and personally by the Prime Minister. In mid-April, after a protest by employees of “Terem – Naval Arsenal” in Varna, Borisov ordered that Georgi Stoikov, whom the Minister of Defense had released a day earlier, be reinstated. For the time being, Nenchev’s intention to appoint the former son deputy and acting minister of the interior, Yordan Bakalov, as the director of the “Military Information” service remains unmoved for now.
Meanwhile, Nikolay Nenchev got involved in two more scandals. A few days ago, the prosecutor’s office announced that they would summon the Minister of Defense for questioning about the allegations that he was offered commissions in order to sign contracts worth BGN 80 million. for the repair of Russian MiG-29 fighters. The reason why Nikolay Nenchev has so far not made the traditional visit to the United States for the beginning of the mandate of a Bulgarian defense minister remains unclear. Nenchev denies that he was denied an American visa. It is not the practice of US State Department consular services to comment on visa denials.
