Danny Vera has peace with self-imposed death of father | Stars

His father chose to take his own life in 2016. “He did it himself. I find it difficult to say this in this program, but I am proud and happy that he did it,” says the 44-year-old singer about his father, who, according to Vera, had “a melancholy heart”.

Can you imagine having to stay at the party even longer, while everyone is completely dead and you don’t feel like it anymore. Then you can just grab your coat and go home, right?”

The florist, who was also a singer like his son, was in his mid-seventies when he decided to take his own life. “I’ve also known people who got out earlier, say their late twenties. Then I think: had just taken five years of Prozac. That you’re over it. And if you’re not over it then, you can always opt for it. But if you’re in your mid-seventies and think: for the same money I’ll be 85, then another ten years and I don’t want another ten years at all, then I’m at peace with that.”
