Danny Murphy thinks West Ham might regret not signing an extra striker in January to compete with Michail Antonio.
West Ham don’t have many alternative options up front and Antonio wasn’t at his best in the 3-1 loss to Tottenham on Sunday.
The Hammers are still competing in the Europa League having reached the quarter-finals, while they are currently seventh in the Premier League.
Danny Murphy feels West Ham should have signed a striker as Michail Antonio’s back-up

Murphy, however, feels that David Moyes should have increased his attacking resources in January.
Speaking in talkSPORTMurphy said: ‘I think they missed a trick by not getting someone. Even if they couldn’t get someone they thought would take their place, someone who can compete at their level. Someone a little younger or hungrier who doesn’t mind coming off the bench.
‘All the top clubs in the Premier League, when a team makes a transfer in your position, you automatically speed up.
You know they may take your place. When Antonio is fit, he usually plays.’
Murphy believes not bringing in another striker could prove costly for West Ham.

Murphy claimed that Moyes would have wanted to sign a striker and may not have received the financial backing he needed.
Murphy continued: “Although he [Moyes] He said the right things, I don’t think he got what he wanted [in January].
‘He’s a smart man, why wouldn’t he want someone?’
Antonio has scored ten goals in 36 games this season but hasn’t found the net in the league since New Year’s Day.
Winger Jarrod Bowen is currently out injured, which has also contributed to West Ham struggling in the final third.

West Ham are now six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal and the Gunners have two games in hand.
Murphy added that West Ham did not need to spend a significant amount of money in January to strengthen their squad.
Murphy said: ‘West Ham are in a good position but they were in an even better one. They were still in the cup a few weeks ago and in a better position in the league.
“A little bit of strengthening and a little bit of risk, it’s not stupid to spend hundreds of millions, but one or two in attacking areas – all the West Ham fans said the same thing.”
“There’s no way Moyesy wouldn’t want someone to come in.”
